In the past, I've always been given everything I've wanted, but nothing that I truly needed. I've experienced a lot of things in my twenty-five years, everything except the one thing I want. It's the one thing that can’t be bought. It can't even be taken, it has to be given. And nobody has ever given it to me, not really anyway.

Not until him.

Music is the center of both our lives, but as he found his place in it, I lost my way. He soared, while I spiraled down a destructive path.
I lost myself in more ways than I can count.

The ironic thing is that I didn’t realize how lost I was until he found me.

And now that he has, I have to wonder if he'll stay around long enough to catch me.

Claire Contreras graduated with her BA in Psychology from Florida International University. She lives in Miami, Florida with her husband, two little boys, and three dogs.

Her favorite past times are: daydreaming, writing, and reading.

She has been described as a random, sarcastic, crazy girl with no filter.

Life is short, and it’s more bitter than sweet, so she tries to smile as often as her face allows. She enjoys stories with happy endings, because life is full of way too many unhappy ones or ones that will scare the daylights out of her and have her looking over her shoulder at every turn. Like I said, she's very random.

“Why don’t you wear a ring?” His whisper is loud in my ears and I’m so surprised by it that I turn my head to look around the room, eyes wide. I see him chuckle, but don’t hear it, so I assume anything he says into the microphone is only heard by me.

I frown, not understanding his question, but I’m scared to ask because I don’t know how loud I’ll sound. I don’t want to wake up Shea.

Nick clicks the button again and runs the tips of his pointer down my hand slowly, making my breath hitch as he slides it up and down my ring finger.

“A ring, why don’t you wear one?” he repeats, his eyes losing their playfulness the longer he looks into mine.

I open my mouth and close it, suddenly understanding why he would think that I would be married. I move my hands from under his and take the earphones off, untangling the cord from my hair.

“I’m not married,” I respond, still trying to rid myself of the earphones.

He leans in and holds them, helping me take it out of my hair. “I thought you were … I heard somebody call you Mrs. Harmon this morning. And then yesterday in the street…”

I smile at the memory. “So what? You actively pursue married women?”

Nick presses his lips together to contain a smile. “Only the really beautiful ones that I can’t stop thinking about.”

I shake my head, still smiling. “How’s Stephanie?”

Boom. Okay, so that’s probably not exactly what I should’ve said, but damn him if he thinks he’s going to use me the same way guys apparently want to use me. I’m so sick of being second to everybody.

Guest Review of : The Space in Between – Brittainy C. Cherry

I am very excited Author Patty Maximini stopped by and posted a review of The Space in Between By Brittainy  C. Cherry . I hope you enjoy her review and one click and add it to your TBR list!

Thank You again Patty !

                             ***Author's Debut Novel***

WARNING: The following story contains mature themes, strong language, and sexual situations. It is intended for readers 18+ older.

She’s scarred by her past.

ANDREA EVANS is traumatized and guilt-ridden by the death of her fiancĂ©e. Tired of the gossiping small town, she travels to New York City to pursue her dream of dance.

He’s uncertain of his future.

COOPER DAVIDSON is a famous photographer and reality television star trying to flee from his own life filled with paparazzi, mental health clinics, and a cheating wife who is pregnant.

When Andrea and Cooper’s paths cross, they realize how damaged and in need of escapism they both are. The two create an arrangement to explore the space in between chaos and order with one another. The rules are simple—no emotional connections, no talking about the past, no speaking of the future, and when one finds order, the other walks away.

All is well until Cooper accidentally falls in love with Andrea.

This book was recommended to me by a friend. According to her, I would find everything I love in it and she was right. This book has sweet romance, broken people, intelligent jokes, tons of angst and a hot male lead, which makes it exactly my kind of book!
So let’s talk about the story and I promise to try and keep this review spoiler free.
Both Andrea and Cooper, the leads, start out with their lives crumbling around them. Andrea, lost her fiancé in a car crash, and Cooper, found out that his wife is a cheating whore who got knocked up by someone else. Yikes, right?
Understandably, their lives kind of fell apart because of those events. For Andrea, it meant moving to NYC where she now shares an apartment with her best friend and works a less than conventional job. As for Cooper, living out his hurt meant a drinking binge and a trip to the no-shoe-laces resort. After his “vacation” he’s back to the real world and decided to move on. By peer pressure, the moving on happens at the place where Andrea works, and that’s how they meet. Or meet again, since we learn they were childhood friends (and this happens early on in the book, so it’s not a spoiler).
As a coping mechanism to deal with their broken lives, they develop a relationship of sorts which involves Soda Pop and Panda— don’t ask me, I said no spoilers! But this is where the book gets super cute.
I love books where you have a build up to the relationship and that’s exactly what we have here. We have two people slowly and unintentionally falling in love. However, I have to point out that I got a bit confused at times regarding Cooper’s feelings, but it wasn’t something that bothered me to the point I wanted to put the book down.  As for Andrea, I loved the mess she was and seeing her heal. As a woman who had her share of broken heart, I totally identified with her, which was awesome.
All of the secondary characters have their moments, though Eric and Michelle just didn’t cut it for me. Sorry, I just didn’t understand the deal with them. Now, Ladasha on the other hand, was such a great character. In fact, I’m convinced she’s my long lost book sister with all of her silly movie humor. I totally identified with her on that and if Brittainy ever decides to write a whole book on her, I’d read it in a heartbeat.  Also, let’s talk about Jesus. I’m in love in the best comical way! Well done Brittainy, that was super clever and I’m still wondering if he was nuts or the real deal.

The events towards the end kept me glued to my seat and I loved it. I felt like the emotion could be brought up a notch at some points and some extra explanation could be given, but overall it was an amazing book and the ending was amazingly sweet and made me fall in love with Cooper a bit more. I highly recommend it to all of you romance junkies.

Brittainy Cherry has been in love with words since the day she took her first breath. She lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her loved ones and loves a great romance. The Space In Between is her debut novel and she looks forward to the world being able to read it! Coffee, chai tea, and wine are three things that she thinks every person should partake in! Author Bio:

Indie Author with my first Romance novel, Charity's Warrior, and now the second in the series, Charity’s Secrets, publishing on Amazon Kindle, Creatspace, Barnes & Noble and Smashwords.

I'm very passionate about writing stories full of love, lust, eroticism, and strong characters entwined around each other in an interesting, suspenseful journey.

East coast born and raised, I'm married, extremely happily, with 4 kids, 3 of which are now young adults (not sure when that happened).

I’m a COO in my technology-based "day job,” which requires a mix of technical and creative writing for both internal and client-facing materials, but it was not satisfying my artistic spirit. Writing the “Charity” series has been absolutely fulfilling and exciting.

My favorite writing takes place on my phone while lying on the Southernmost Beach in Key West, where I try to go at least twice a year.

Long Excerpt:

Behind me, the door swung shut quietly in its hinges, locking itself after it clicked into the jamb.
"Justin?"
There's no answer. Maybe he's not home yet.
I'm putting my bag down when I hear the voice behind me. "Get up against the wall—NOW! Put your hands out," he demands.

There's no point in resisting. I step up to the foyer wall and nervously place my hands against it, waiting to see what the next move will be. My pulse is a loud whomp in my ears.

The sound of his footfalls fill the small space, approaching on me slowly, deliberately, until I see his feet on the floor between mine, his bare feet and bare legs. Strong hands lift the heavy coat off me and toss it to the floor beside us and then return to my shoulders where they begin to coil up my hair. A familiar hardness presses into the small of my back.

"I've been thinking about you all day," Justin whispers into my ear, making my knees weak
"And what, exactly, were you thinking about?" I breathe, praying for his magical hands.

His left hand pulls my hair, turning my face toward his. "I thought about making you cry with pleasure. It's the only way I can tolerate your devastating absence." He quickly bites my lower lip, tempting me. "I love you, Warrior. And I need you."

Justin's right hand slithers around to the front of me under the bottom of my shirt, rising up between my breasts to grab my bra like a handle. Then both of his hands pull me tightly against him, molding me into his warm body.

My lips ache for him, my hunger for the taste of his tongue spills over. "Kiss me, please!" I beg. "Touch
me like a man should touch a woman.

"I'm going to do everything to you that a man should," he growls.

His mouth finds mine, the pleasure of it searing all of my senses. He tugs my hair a little more and completes the seal between our lips, circling his tongue around mine. Underneath my shirt, his powerful hand lets go of my bra and gently grabs my breast, pressing the fleshiness between his fingers. He lets me hear a low moan deep in his chest. It's more felt against my body than it's heard by my ears.

It doesn't matter that I want more, that my clit is throbbing for his touch, Justin makes me wait for it. He releases my hair and my breast, both hands moving to the bottom of my shirt where he pulls at it uncaringly, ripping it over my head and tossing it on top of my coat. My bra comes off me with the same ease, and he spins me around to face him, pushing my back against the wall.

"My fucking God! I will never get tired of looking at you," his deep voice confesses while his eyes widen with lust.

There's no misunderstanding him. My own eyes were taking in his fully unclothed body with the same excitement and enthusiasm. The thick muscles of his chest rise and fall with his heavy breathing, and his well-defined shoulders beg me to claw my nails into them.
Christ! How does he stay in that shape?
Fuck it—I don't care!
