REVIEW OF GOING UNDER BY S.WALDEN
GOING UNDER,
Brooke Wright has only two goals her senior year at Charity Run High School: stay out of trouble and learn to forgive herself for the past. Forgiveness proves elusive, and trouble finds her anyway when she discovers a secret club at school connected to the death of her best friend. She learns that swim team members participate in a “Fantasy Slut League,” scoring points for their sexual acts with unsuspecting girls.
Brooke, wracked with guilt over her friend’s death, decides to infiltrate the league by becoming one of the “unsuspecting girls,” and exact revenge on the boys who stole away her best friend. An unexpected romance complicates her plans, and her dogged pursuit of justice turns her reckless as she underestimates just how far the boys will go to keep their sex club a secret.
When I saw this book and the short synopsis I was intrigued. To not give any spoilers I included the synopsis above. This book sucked me in I was shocked as I read in to the story.
I do warn anyone that it is intense has some graphic sex and description of rape.
I do give Summer some serious credit as I read this it was fitting to a world we live in today everything she wrote I could see as i read it like i was watching it all happen on a tv screen that i couldn't pull my eyes from ! It was a very emotional read raw at times sad and at times and very infuriating I was on a definite roller coaster of emotions on this one. But on a happier note there is intertwined thru all of this a a love story with hope and healing with Brooke :-) There is a letter at the end of the book from the Author I would encourage everyone to read it. It does bring light to why things were the way they were in the book!
I recommend this book a with a warning of be aware of intense emotions that will follow you thru the book. I know I will be reading more of Summers books in the future. Book bitch stephenie
