The Innocent continues the story of Serena and Sebastian and the controlling abusive and what I would call one messed up Price.  This book was really the meat and potatoes of the story this book we get the meat and history on everyone we learn why Price HATES Sebastian so much.  We find out where Serena came from how Price found her and what he did to her for all these yrs.  The more information I learned about Serena the more I understood why she does the things she does in the book.  Kailin Gow touches on Domestic violence and abusive history for Serena which so completes her character and made me understand her all that more.  I was so happy once Serena and Sebastian finally got time together and she realized how controlled she had been for the many yrs she had been with Price and how different men could be and what love really was in their world and I know if you have read any of Kailin's books its not all hearts and flowers and vanilla love or HEA. the love story is there but its one that is worked for and one that has its struggles like real life.  I love how the book ends I dont want to spoil anything but I will say Serena is not the meek submissive anymore she has grown in her music as well as the bedroom.  I would recommend this to all of my book friends that read this genera.
