Human connection? Who needs it?
Ever since she can remember, wealthy but weary Saige Armstrong has felt different from her peers in Pechimu, New Jersey. With only one good friend to her name, she has navigated the complicated halls of high school and is now faced with the timeless question: Now what?
Fox Harrington, a fun-loving, socially charismatic graffiti artist uses his passions to color his world exactly how he wants it. He knows exactly where his life is headed. That is, until he meets Saige.
A summer project links the two together, making a tentative friendship bloom into romance, but despite their affection for each other, fundamental beliefs and ways of thinking threaten to destroy all they have built.
In this tender story of young love, N.K. Smith delivers a striking tale of two people standing on the precipice of adult life.
Based in the American Midwest, N.K. Smith is a Technical Writer for a Fortune 100 company. The author of the Old Wounds Series, Ghosts of Our Pasts, and My Only, she is a mother of two who finds the time to write very early in the morning when the rest of the world is still fast asleep.
An avid lover of history, art, music, books, and people, she is interested in telling stories that speak to the human condition.

All of the sudden, Beyoncé is singing her song “Halo,” and I smile.
“Really? Never would have pegged you for a fan.”
With an exaggerated humiliated expression, he says, “Everyone likes Beyoncé, and it’s a good song, but now that you know my secret, I’ll have to keep you locked up so you don’t spill the beans.” He gets up and puts his hands in out in front of him, fingers crooked, but extended. “Or I could tickle you, which would probably be more fun than just locking you away.”
“Oh, my God, no!” I jump off the stool and dart away, but his basement isn’t big, so there’s no place for me to go. He grabs my wrist in a gentle hold, then twirls me toward him.
“You’ve just revealed how ticklish you are, Saigey-Paigey, and I didn’t even have to tickle you. But now that I know. . .” He lets the words hang there as he dramatically raises his free hand, fingers wiggling. “No! Don’t!” My reaction is odd, even to me. There’s real fear mixed in with the giggles that have bubbled up. His hand stops. “Why not?”
“Does anyone besides kids ever want to be tickled?” Fox locks his eyes with mine. “I think you just can’t handle thinking about where that much laughing would take you. I’d tickle you, and you’d laugh like crazy. Maybe you’d even snort from laughing so much.” “I don’t snort.” “And I wouldn’t stop because the sound of your laugh would be like fuel for me, but then your muscles would start to hurt and those tears of laughter in your eyes would grow bigger, and then you’d realize that sometimes it’s okay to be free. That in the freedom that comes from that kind of laughter, comes the greatest release of negativity, and you’d feel like a million dollars.”

As a Black Ops assassin, “Lucky” Landon has had more than his fair share of close calls. Now he’s turned in his sniper rifle for the simple life of his small hometown. Brooke Wright has only two goals her senior year at Charity Run High School: stay out of trouble and learn to forgive herself for the past. Forgiveness proves elusive, and trouble finds her anyway when she discovers a secret club at school connected to the death of her best friend. She learns that swim team members participate in a “Fantasy Slut League,” scoring points for their sexual acts with unsuspecting girls.
Brooke, wracked with guilt over her friend’s death, decides to infiltrate the league by becoming one of the “unsuspecting girls,” and exact revenge on the boys who stole away her best friend. An unexpected romance complicates her plans, and her dogged pursuit of justice turns her reckless as she underestimates just how far the boys will go to keep their sex club a secret.
When I saw this book and the short synopsis I was intrigued. To not give any spoilers I included the synopsis above. This book sucked me in I was shocked as I read in to the story.
I do warn anyone that it is intense has some graphic sex and description of rape.
I do give Summer some serious credit as I read this it was fitting to a world we live in today everything she wrote I could see as i read it like i was watching it all happen on a tv screen that i couldn't pull my eyes from ! It was a very emotional read raw at times sad and at times and very infuriating I was on a definite roller coaster of emotions on this one. But on a happier note there is intertwined thru all of this a a love story with hope and healing with Brooke :-) There is a letter at the end of the book from the Author I would encourage everyone to read it. It does bring light to why things were the way they were in the book!
I recommend this book a with a warning of be aware of intense emotions that will follow you thru the book. I know I will be reading more of Summers books in the future. Book bitch stephenie
Three Chicks and Their Books: Kelly Elliott Day: We love Kelly Elliott's Wanted series and today is dedicated to her! There's lots going on ..we had a chance to catch up with Ar...
I think I have to agree with the Author on this one, Rule is a fun time ;)
Shaw the long time family friend pseudo sister has the not so fun job to drag Rules hung over ass out of bed every Sunday and take him to family brunch. Every Sunday is the same having to witness Rule in all his naked glory booting out his Saturday night conquest’s.
Rule the Archer boy who has always been the black sheep, the most ostentatious of the three boys. The Twin that couldn’t compare to his identical counter part. Remy died in a tragic accident and Rule was held responsible by his mother for the whole incident, and was criticized there after for not being Remy.
All this time Shaw has been in love with the wild Archer Twin, keeping that secret along with the other secrets that Remy took to his grave. The Tables finally turn on the Archer Mother and Shaw stands up for Rule. Years of watching them tear Rule apart she has finally witnessed enough.
The family is in turmoil, the only real family that Shaw has known. Her own parents showed no love, only their disappointment in their daughters choices. Forcing a mutually privileged political off spring on their daughter, she fights back with no avail against her parents who threaten to take away her school funding if she doesn’t make things happen with Gabe.
Shaw finally cuts loose and lets Rule in on her affliction for him. The Roller coaster of emotions from both and the learning what love is for two people that have had it shown/not shown in odd ways their whole life.
This is a fun ride, Good story of Life, Love, Loss and learning to love again.
This story falls into my Mantra Right now Of “Because, Fuck you that’s why” . Rule is Abrasive and speaks his mind , Shaw has always went out of her way to keep everyone happy whether it made her happy or not. The Sex is good the story is Great, If your looking for good fling… Give Rule a Whirl. I’m Anxious to read Jet’s story =) Book Bitch Melissa
